W/R: AKUFO-ADDO CUTS SOD FOR ABANDONED DISTRICT HOSPITAL IN SHAMA

 




President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cut the sod for the construction of abandoned district hospital at Shama in the Western Region.

He made this known when he honored a brief ceremony at the Shama district and cut a sod for the construction of the 100-bed capacity hospital for the people of Shama.

According to the president, the construction of the hospital will create direct and indirect jobs for the people of Shama and would also bring excellent and proper health care to the people of the district and the western region as a whole.

Present at the ceremony were dignitaries including the Health minister Hon. Kweku Agyeman-Manu, Deputy minister for education, Hon. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Member of parliament for the Takoradi constituency, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, Member of parliament for the Shama Constituency, Hon, Dr. Ato Panford, District Chief Executive for Shama, Hon. Joseph Amoah, a traditional council, assembly members, and many others.

 

At the ceremony, the health minister, Hon. Kweku Agyeman-Manu also assured the people for the successful completion of the ultramodern hospital which has been abandoned for years.

The 32 million Euros project will after completion have facilities including an accident and emergency unit, out-patient department with 100 seater capacity waiting area, consulting rooms, OOphthalmologyand ENT treatment, 16-bed paediatric ward, 24-bed male ward, 24-bed female ward, 24-bed maternity ward, 30-capacity mortuary, 2 DHMT office, auditorium and meeting rooms, public health spaces and many more.

Chief of Shama, Nana Enoch Kojo Appiah commended the president for his good work and thanked the Mbobado Aboradze (Efiana) family for the massive support.

The chief of Shama, further pleaded on the government to asphalt the dilapidated road from Shama to Esema to help in easy transportation of goods and easy movement of people in the area.
